How RowCave Brought Their 3D Indoor Rowing Experience to Life with MoveLab

RowCave is a fitness tech startup based in London, creating one of the most immersive indoor rowing experiences available today. Their signature setup features a fully 3D, projection-based environment that simulates outdoor rowing with stunning visual realism, designed for teams, clubs, and commercial studios looking to offer a premium rowing experience.

When RowCave first came to MoveLab, they had already developed their impressive 3D environment, but lacked the underlying software and app infrastructure needed to run it in a real-world setting. They wanted to avoid heavy investment in everything outside of their visual system, while still ensuring that the setup could function smoothly, interact with rowing machines, and scale to commercial use.

To solve this, MoveLab provided a custom studio software built on top of MoveLab Connect. Our system allowed RowCave’s visual experience to respond in real time to performance data coming from each rowing machine, transmitted through tablets running MoveLab Connect. The platform also included an admin interface to manage the screens and studio sessions across locations.

Thanks to this integration, RowCave was able to deliver their first two immersive studios with a fully connected and manageable software layer, without having to build the entire backend stack themselves.
